Bio

Summer Romasco is an Oakland-based visual artist producing paintings, installations, objects, and printed matter. Born in rural Ohio, she grew up accessing the larger world through literature, film, television, and even comic books - all of which stylistically and thematically influence in her artwork. Having studied studio art, English literature and cinema at the University of Rochester in New York and Humanities and Social Thought at NYU, Romasco grounds her work in theories of deconstructionism and semiotics. She has won awards in both visual arts and writing and regularly exhibits work in Rochester, New York City, and the Bay Area. When she's not in her studio, you can find her posting photos on Instagram, or writing for her blog
